Sonia's Garden Opening and Dedication 8/14/2021

The City of Salida and the Salida Department of Parks and Recreation invites the community to the opening and dedication of Sonia’s Memorial and Meditation Garden at the Touber Building on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 4:00-5:00PM.448 E 1st St. Salida, CO 81201  The Garden contains many elements, each of which were inspired by the life of former City Clerk Sonia Walter.  The Celebration will include explanations of the Community Garden, Composting Station and Meditation Garden by the community partners who are making each element possible. 

The City of Salida has partnered with Guidestone and Family & Youth Initiatives (FYI) to manage a community garden space that will provide a collaborative and fun environment for community members. The garden beds will be available to rent in the Spring of 2022. By creating this space, gardeners will participate in sustainable agricultural practices, learn about the importance of local food systems and build a greater sense of community together.
