Program Milestones

Assessment

In 2022, the City of Salida hired an outside consultant, Benesch, to conduct a physical assessment of City-owned and operated facilities, parks, trails, curb ramps, sidewalks and a review of the City's website.

ADA Transition Plan

An ADA Transition Plan was completed and provided guidelines and goals to improve accessibility throughout Salida and serve as a means of formal documentation of the procedures and progress that have already taken place in accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Public Input

The project process also included several opportunities for public outreach to engage residents and users of City services to obtain the same information, including an open house, surveys, and a public comment period on the draft Transition Plan.

City Council Adoption

The final ADA Transition Plan was adopted by City Council in April 2023.

Plan Implementation

The City is working to implement the ADA Transition Plan and updates will be shared as new information becomes available. While the development of an ADA Transition Plan may not immediately result in projects or physical improvements, the final Plan will provide the City with clear direction and a roadmap to make accessibility-related improvements and accommodations as funding allows.
