Fireworks on Tendefoot

As the summer season kicks off and Independence Day approaches, the City of Salida reminds all residents and visitors to celebrate safely and legally by refraining from using personal exploding fireworks. It is important that we protect our community and beautiful mountains.

The City has an ordinance prohibiting fireworks. These measures are in place to prevent accidents, injuries, and fires that often result from the use of fireworks.

For those eager to enjoy fireworks, we encourage you to attend the professional display organized by the Salida Fire Department from Tenderfoot Mountain starting at 9:30pm on July 4th. These events are permitted under the City's adopted Fire Code and are conducted by trained professionals, ensuring a safe and spectacular show for all to enjoy. Safety is a priority for all involved, and in accordance, Spiral Drive on Tenderfoot Mountain will be closed at the gate to ALL traffic—vehicle, bike, walking, etc. on July 4th. Please be aware that biking trails crossing Spiral Drive on Tenderfoot will be closed as well to ensure the safety of all involved.

City of Salida Fire Chief Aaron Jonke and Police Chief Russ Johnson encourages everyone to prioritize safety while responsibly celebrating the nation’s birthday.

The City of Salida provides the following safety reminders:

•           The City does not permit for the use of personal exploding fireworks.

•           Celebrate responsibility; always designate a driver.

•           If outdoors, use sunscreen, wear a brimmed hat for shade, and stay hydrated.

•           Check with the Salida Fire Department at 719-539-2212 for updates on fire restrictions.

•           Call 9-1-1 for all life-threatening emergencies.

We urge everyone to respect these regulations and celebrate responsibly. Enjoy the beauty of fireworks at organized events and leave the danger to the experts. Let’s make this summer memorable for all the right reasons and keep our mountains safe!
