Salida Creates - Creative District

Since 2012, the City of Salida’s historic downtown has been a “Certified Creative District,” one of the first designated by Colorado Creative Industries, a division of the State’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade. Formed to support the ongoing economic growth in Salida and to create a climate in which creatives and creative enterprises can prosper, the Creative District has given Salida a surge of energy and a foundation to build upon while also publicizing the thriving creative community and businesses in town. The Creative District is comprised not only of artists and galleries, but creative entrepreneurs of all types, including locally-owned restaurants, bars, microbreweries, and a distillery; print, graphic, and jewelry designers; boutique hotel accommodations; and healing arts, non-profits and many more. As a community that relies heavily on tourism, the Creative District’s offering of special events and festivals throughout the year showcases the vibrancy of the community and a boost to the economy.
