The Fire Department provides service on a 24/7 basis with the following mission:

The mission of the Salida Fire Department is to provide the highest level of professional service and protection of life and property to the people who live, work and visit the City of Salida and by providing the same level of service to other agencies through contract or mutual aid agreements.

Within the mission of the department, staff provides the following scope of work:

• Fire Suppression and Response to include Structural, Wildland and Urban Interface
• Motor Vehicle Collision Light and Heavy Duty Extrication
• Emergency Medical Incident Response (Basic and Advanced Life Support)
• Hazardous Materials Incident Response and Mitigation
• Technical Rescue
• Fire Inspections, Commercial Plans Review, and Code Enforcement
• Fire Prevention and Safety Education
• Fire Apparatus and Station Repair and Maintenance
• Participation in Local, Regional and State Committees
