Current Fire Restriction Information

Informational chart outlining Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, showing activities that are prohibited and activities that are permitted during the restriction period.
STAGE I FIRE RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT

Stage I Fire Restrictions will go into effect beginning at 6:00 a.m. on June 9 due to increasing fire danger and dry conditions.

Residents and visitors are asked to use extra caution when recreating or working outdoors. These restrictions are intended to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and help protect our communities, natural resources, and first responders.

Please review the restrictions carefully and ensure you are in compliance before conducting any activities that could create sparks or open flames.

NEW UPDATE:

As of March 27, 2026, Stage I Fire Restrictions have now been expanded to include ALL National Forest System lands, roads, and trails, as well as all designated dispersed campsites within the exterior boundaries of the Pike-San Isabel National Forests & Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands.

This means that federal lands ARE NOW INCLUDED under fire restrictions.

Why this matters: Conditions across the region remain dry, and fire danger is increasing. With limited firefighting resources available statewide, preventing human-caused fires is more important than ever.

We need your help to prevent wildfires:

  • Follow all fire restrictions, no matter where you are
  • Use extreme caution with anything that could spark a fire
  • Properly dispose of cigarettes
  • Help spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors

If you witness a violation, please report it to the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 719-539-2596. Deputies will be actively monitoring, and violations may result in significant penalties.
