The Safe Routes to School Project, driven by community input, is improving key pedestrian connections in Salida. The improvements include US-50 pedestrian crossings and a sidewalk from Holman to Walmart. Other sidewalk improvements include concrete paving of the Stryker Trail located adjacent to the Spur Trail on the east side of the soccer fields as well as a sidewalk along Holman from the Spur Trail to US-50. The construction is anticipated in 2026 but is dependent on funding. The project is funded in part by grants from the Colorado Department of Transportation.
