The City of Salida Parks and Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and safety-focused Water Safety Instructors to join our team at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center. In this role, you’ll help swimmers of all ages build confidence and life-saving skills through high-quality aquatic instruction based on American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim standards.

This is a rewarding opportunity to teach, mentor, and promote water safety while working in a fun, community-centered environment.

In this role, you will perform a variety of duties related to planning and leading swim lessons in alignment with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim standards.

  • You will provide beginner intermediate instruction for individuals and small groups, create a safe and supportive learning environment, and monitor participant progress while offering feedback and recommendations for improvement.
  • You will also communicate program information with participants, parents, and staff, ensure adherence to facility rules and safety procedures, and set up and take down instructional equipment.
  • Additionally, you will maintain required certifications and contribute to the overall quality and effectiveness of aquatics programs.

Hiring range:  $18.00 - $32.00/hour dependent on experience.  This position includes a free individual pool pass to the Hot Springs Aquatic Center and discounts on recreation and aquatics programs and products.
