SALIDA, CO — The City Clerk’s Office has completed its review of referendum petition materials submitted regarding Ordinance 2025-15 An Ordinance of the City of Salida, Colorado Zoning Certain Real Property Known as the 5-H LLC Annexation as High Density Residential (R-3) Zone District. Of the 25 petition packets submitted, 15 were reviewed and found to contain 414 valid signatures. This exceeds the number required to qualify the petition, and therefore, the petition has been determined to be sufficient.
A formal Statement of Sufficiency was sent on September 24 to the Petitioners’ Committee via both mail and email.
In accordance with Colorado state statute, a 10-day protest period will now follow. During this time, any protest of the petition’s validity may be submitted.
Ordinance 2025-15 is scheduled for reconsideration by the Salida City Council on October 21, 2025. At that meeting, the Council will determine whether to repeal the ordinance or refer the matter to a public vote. If the matter if referred to a public vote, there will have to be a Special Election outside of the scheduled election in November.
Additionally, the City is considering presenting a separate ordinance at the same meeting recommending the designation of an R-2 zone district for the property in question. This recommendation would be contingent upon the Council’s decision to repeal Ordinance 2025-15 by a majority vote.
